General Description

One scribe copied the pieces from the beginning through f. 28, a second scribe from f. 28' to the end. Twenty-two concordances with FlorBN Panc. 27. The manuscript also contains one monophonic Passion. Probably copied in a Benedictine monastery in northern Italy (Florence, Ferrara, Mantua, or somewhere in Emilia); CattNFI asserts that it must have been "compiled in one of the monasteries linked with the Congregation of St. Justina of Montecassino". The manuscript was sold by Guglielmo Libri to a dealer in England in 1859, and acquired by Sir George Grey, governor of Cape Colony, in 1860. Grey donated it to the library in Cape Town on 21 October 1861.

Tentative attribution to Isaac of "Regnum meum" on f.114v-115: Cattin notes that opening of imitation and phrase of Regnum meum is almost identical to that of Isaac's "A la battaglia"; Adam Knight Gilbert (dissertation) argues that Regnun meum is the work of Isaac, and shares much in common with the Benedictus of Isaac's "Missa Chargé de deuil".
