General Description

Neatly copied by a single scribe. From Ghent, Bruges, or Antwerp (HoffM); characteristic German choirbook format (Rifkin). Probably brought to Frankfurt on some ceremonial occasion, such as the visit of a king or emperor (HoffM).

126 parchment folios, 545 x 365. One or more folios have been removed from the beginning of each Mass; these were probably stolen for miniatures and initials; various folios from other parts of the manuscript have also been lost. Modern foliation, entered after the loss of the opening folios of each piece, but before any other folios were removed. Modern covers of half-vellum. No index remains. Neatly copied by a single scribe. Secondary initials are carefully executed, in various colors.
