General Description

Copied by Netherlands court scribe Petrus Alamire (KellJ); Warmington however distinguishes text/music scribe X, with further music by scribe C2 and text by scribe C5 (KellmanTO). Copied in Brussels/Mechlin; belongs to Netherlands court complex (KellJ). Original recipient probably Margaret of Austria (1480-1530), Regent of the Netherlands.

Decoration

Miniatures and borders illuminated in Ghent-Bruges style; painted initials and inked calligraphic initials. Miniatures include portrait, heraldic emblems, and motto of Emperor Maximilian I; the imperial arms; representations of six popes who issued bulls on doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. Initial on f. 96 inscribed with name 'Jaques Scoon' (who is possibly the calligrapher).

Original covers of dark leather over wooden boards, with blind-tooled lozenge design; metal corners, clasps, and bosses. No index. Copied by Netherlands court scribe Petrus Alamire. Staff height 24.
