General Description

Copied by a single scribe, possibly Fray Pedro Durán (see below), who also wrote second part of GranCR 3. According to inscription on verso of front flyleaf, this source contains all motets composed by R. Ceballos (see SnowRC and StevnsnSCM for discussion of this claim). Copied in Granada. Purchased by Ginés de Boluda and Alonso de Morata for Toledo cathedral choir in 1586; Boluda and Morata purchased manuscript in Granada from Fray Pedro Durán, an Augustinian friar and copyist (SnowRC).

i + 271 paper folios of an original 336, 544 x 384. Folios in very poor condition due to severe ink corrosion; some music illegible. Original ink foliation, [5]-206 + 268-336 (ff. 1-4 and 207-267 now missing). Restored and rebound in 1980-1; original wooden boards covered with new leather. No index remains. Copied by a single scribe, possibly Fray Pedro Durán (see below), who also wrote second part of GranCR 3. Inked calligraphic initials. According to inscription on verso of front flyleaf, this source contains all motets composed by R. Ceballos (see SnowRC and StevnsnSCM for discussion of this claim).
