Binding

Covers of medium brown leather over boards, blind tooled with decorative borders and central diamond motif; brass clasps, studs, and bosses. Covers date from 18th century (LlorCS), but decoration imitates earlier style; similar or identical bindings also found on VatS 14-24, 26, 29, 32, 34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 49, and 51.

Decoration

Illuminated miniatures on f. i'-ii include coat of arms of Pope Paul III (1468-1549); miniatures are probably work of Vincent Raymond (BraunerP). Other folios have inked calligraphic initials.

Notation mesurée blanche. 10 portées par p. au v du f. limin. n.eh.: Table du ms. Aux ff.3v-4: lettres et marges ornées avec les armes de Paul III par Apollonio Bonfratelli, enlumineur papal. Reliure du XVille s.

Ms. copié sous Paul III (1534-1549) par Johannes Parvus à ses débuts de copiste à la cour papale (1538-39). Certaines lectures restent difficiles, l'encre ayant rongé le papier.
