General Description

Composite of several originally separate fascicles: Part I = new ff. 6-183; Part II = new ff. 2-5 + 183-195; Part III = new ff. 196-215. Part II copied by a single scribe, who also wrote ff. 178'-184 and ff. 200'-203 of VatS 35; this scribe entered music in VatS 51 on paper already ruled by scribes of Part I. Part III copied by a single scribe, who also wrote most of VatS 35 and ff. 186-186' of VatS 41 (RothS). Part I copied in Naples; probably brought to Rome in 1475, by chapel of Ferrante I, King of Naples, for presentation to papal chapel (RothS). More recently, origin in Ferrara or Venice proposed (StoesselIntro). Parts II and III copied in Rome, for use by Cappella Sistina.
