General Description

A single Bassus partbook, copied by John Stevens (d. 1636), who also wrote OxfJ 180 (MorehS). Copied in London, for use by Chapel Royal (MorehS, who disputes LehurT's suggestion that manuscript was prepared for St. George's Chapel, Windsor). Owned by William Juxon (1582-1663), president of St. John's College, Oxford, 1621-33; Dean of Chapel Royal and Bishop of London from 1633; later Archbishop of Canterbury. Probably presented to St. John's College by Juxon.
