General Description

A single Bass partbook from a set originally of four or five volumes. Copied by one main scribe, with later additions by Edward Standley (inscription on f. 27) and four other scribes. Copied in Ludlow, for use at Church of St. Lawrence. Deposited at present location in Shrewsbury in 1950.

Re-labelled as bass book (entirely in the F3 and F4 clef). Lord's Prayer on 13r - 13v identified as the Bass part of Robert Stone's setting (cf. GB-Ob MS. Mus. Sch. e. 422, 58v - 59r). Te Deum, Benedictus, Kyrie and Magnificat on 5r - 13r onwards identified as Tallis's Short Setting. (Bass Part).
