General Description

The main contents are f. 1-43: three dialogues of Rupert de Tuy (publ. by Migne, Paleografia Latina 170, col. 559); f. 43-43v: a letter from Abbot Fulgentius to Franco, a monk; f. 43v-44v: Franco's reply; f. 44v-117v: 12 books de gratia dei; f. 117v-122: two letters by Franco; f. 122v-129: a Latin poem on the schism in the Liège bishopric (publ. by Hauréau, Notices et extraits, vol.XXXI, 2, pp. 165 ff). These are written in a Gothic-looking 12th century minuscule. On f. 129-131v are 10 motets, 8 of which appear in Mo.

Notation

Longs and breves differentiated in the square motet notation, and c.o.p. ligatures together with occasional conjuncturae of English type are to be found. Towards the end, the breves are replaced by pedes muscarum (i.e. in the last motet), while the T of this work is entirely in Gothic neumes.

RISM B/IV 1: A 12th century parchment manuscript meas. 223 x 157 mm. and containing 131 folios. A modern, probably 19th century ink foliation appears at t.r.r. Preceding, and slightly smaller than f. 1 is an 11th century flyleaf which is not included in the modern foliation. It is upside down and contains a collection of mass texts. On the inner cover of the back binding are the words Iste liber est Jacobi de Vitriaco, curati de Wasiers.
