General Description

A Quintus partbook from a set of five volumes. Copied by several scribes. Service music and anthems generally have full text underlaid; other pieces generally have text incipits or titles only. Of English origin; perhaps copied in Suffolk. Belonged in 1615 to Thomas Hamond (d. 1662), of Hawkedon, Suffolk; owned in 1776 by John Stafford Smith. Purchased by British Museum at a Sotheby's sale in 1877.

Ca. 1560-90 (ByrdW). Of English origin; perhaps copied in Suffolk. Belonged in 1615 to Thomas Hamond (d. 1662), of Hawkedon, Suffolk; owned in 1776 by John Stafford Smith. Purchased by British Museum at a Sotheby's sale in 1877.
