General Description

manuscript from the circle of the Monk of Salzburg, consisting of mostly monophonic German songs. Fol. 183 (also of the early 15th century) does not belong to the original manuscript: it comes from the collection of the Freising antiquarian Motzler, and was attached to the manuscript in 1833.

RISM B/IV 3: 15. Jh.; 182 Blätter Papier, 215 x 145 mm (f. 180-182 stark defekt, zum Teil nur zur Hälfte vorhanden) + 1 Blatt Papier (f. 183), 208 x 150 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-183. Je Seite bis zu 6 Vierliniensystemen (ausnahmsweise Fünfliniensystemen) mit gotischer Choral- und teilweise schwarzer Mensuralnotation; f. 183: 9 Vierliniensysteme mit schwarzer Mensuralnotation.

Diese Handschrift aus der ersten Hälfte des 15. Jh. gehört zum Kreis des Mönches von Salzburg. Sie stammt aus Tegernsee und enthält auf f. 1r den berühmten Hinweis auf "Hermann ein münich benedictinerorden czw Salczburgk . . .". Der Inhalt besteht aus meist einstimmigen deutschen Liedern. Das wohl im frühen 15. Jh. geschriebene f. 183 gehört nicht zur ursprünglichen Handschrift Es stammt aus der Sammlung des Freisinger Antiquars Motzler und wurde erst 1833 der Handschrift beigefügt.

[Translation:] 182 paper leaves, 215 x 145 mm (f. 180-182 heavily damaged, some only half-extant) + 1 paper leaf (f. 183), 208 x 150 mm. Modern foliation 1-183. Up to 6 four-line systems per page (with exceptional five-line systems) with Gothic chant notation and some black mensural notation. f. 183: 9 Four line system with black mensural notation.

This manuscript from the first half of the 15th Century belongs to the circle of the Monk of Salzburg. It comes from the Tegernsee and contains on f. 1r the famous reference to "Hermann ein münich benedictinerorden czw Salczburgk . . .".

The contents consist of mostly monophonic German songs. f. 183, also of the early 15th century, does not belong to the original manuscript. It comes from the collection of the antique Freisinger antiquarian Motzler and was attached to the manuscript in 1833.
