General Description

A Gradual containing 259 folios (according to the modern ink foliation at t.r.r), with one modern flyleaf at each end. From the Augustinian monastery of Polling. At the end of the codex are some additions in very rough neumes and without illumination. A calendar follows on f. 225v-259. The polyphony is in the same hand as the MS corpus, and the Kyrie in score has text under both parts for the first line only. The second piece has only the line-endings polyphonic, as usual for this composition.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: A 14th century paper Gradual meas. 203 x 153 mm. and containing 259 folios, according to the modern ink foliation at t.r.r. There is one modern flyleaf at each end. The original red foliation at t.m.r. is supplemented by both pencil and ink at t.r.r. In fact, f. 96-97 have been torn out and f. 230-242 are missing. The original white leather binding over wooden boards was restored in 1919 with paper over the covers and linen on the spine where the leather is worn. The source of Mbs 11764 is the Augustinian monastery of Polling. It is written in Gothic neumes on 8 brown five-line staves per page, using black ink for the notes. The script slants to the right, and initials are in red, black or both. At the end of the codex are some additions in very rough neumes and without illumination. A calendar follows on f. 225v-259. The polyphony is in the same hand as the ms corpus, and the Kyrie in score has text under both parts for the first line only. The second piece has only the line-endings polyphonic, as usual for this composition.
