General Description

Fragments of monophonic music, bearing polyphonic Magnificat fragments on ff. 5-6. These were copied by a single scribe, and are the remnants of a choirbook comparable to EtonC 178. They were copied in England.

2 Magnificat fragments (Fayrfax)-1, anon-1

i + 6 + i parchment folios, 518 x 415 (originally ca. 595 x 415). Modern ink foliation, 1-6. New covers of black cloth on cardboard. Ff. 1-4 contain monophonic music in chant notation; ff. 5-6 (remnants of a choirbook comparable to EtonC 178) contain polyphonic Magnificat fragments, in black mensural notation with red coloration, copied by a single scribe. Painted initials in red and blue on f. 6'; many lines of text in red ink.
