RISM B/IV 1: Although the manuscript of the "Hortus deliciarum" of Herrad von Landsperg is lost, a facsimile of the music has been preserved (see bibliography). This polyphonic composition is a two-part conductus "Sol oritur occasus nesciens" with refrain lines "o, o, o, pro populo, o, o, o etc." Written in 2 accolades of 2 four-line staves, the work is in German neumes of the 12th century in note-against-note movement. Apparently the top stave in each accolade has c/c/a clefs and the bottom one c/a/F clefs with coloured F and c lines. In the lower part may be seen flat and sharp signs. The codex as a whole consisted of 324 folios meas. 53 x 37 cm., and was the work of the abbess of the Augustinian nunnery of St. Odilien of Hohenburg in Alsace. It was destroyed in the fire at the Strasbourg University Library in 1870.
