General Description

Main corpus (including polyphony on ff. lxxvi'-lxxvii') copied by a single scribe. Probably copied at Third Order convent of St. Margareta in Amsterdam; compilation probably associated with convent's confessor, Gheryt Willemszoen van Zande (KnuGL). Taken to Brussels during second half of 16th century; placed in Chambre Héraldique. Acquired in 1797 by Kaiserliche Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv in Vienna. Later transferred to Kaiserliche-Königliche Fideikommissbibliothek, Vienna; entered present library in 1921.

RISM Description

RISM BIV/3: 15/16. Jh.; 168 Blätter Papier + 3 Vorsatzblätter Pergament, 145 x 105 mm. Originale Foliierung der Papier-Blätter von I-CLI, ab f. 152 moderne Foliierung bis f. 168. Je Seite 1 bis 8 Vierliniensysteme mit deutsch-niederländ., choralmensuraler Mischnotation - Einband: 16. Jh.; mit braunem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel, barocke Goldpressung, Messingschließen.

Die wahrscheinlich aus dem Tertiarierinnenkloster St. Margareta in Amsterdam stammende, zur Hauptsache zwischen 1473 und 1493 geschriebene Handschrift gelangte 1797 aus der Chambre héraldique in Brüssel ins Kaiserliche Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv Wien; von dort in die Fideikommissbibliothek und 1921 in die Österreichische Nationalbibliothek.

Inhalt: Die Handschrift enthält insgesamt 48 mittelniederld. und 43 lat., mit einer Ausnahme einstimmige Lieder und Texte. - Vorsatzblatt: lat. Hymnus (16. Jh.); f. 1-77v niederld., geistliche Lieder; f. 77v-151 lat. Hymnen und Lieder; f. 152-162 geistliches Zwiegesprächige niederld. Lieder; f. 162-165 lat. Hymnus, Inhaltsverzeichnis; f. 166-168 niederld., geistliche Liedtexte, Ave regina in Quadratnotation des 16. Jh.
