General Description

Music copied on new f. 51'. Presumably copied at Sibton Cistercian Abbey, Suffolk. Sibton monastic estates conveyed to Duke of Norfolk and others in 1536; manor of Sibton sold to John Scrivener in 1610. Manor still owned by Scrivener family.

58 paper folios, 295 x 218 (new f. 51 measures 210-20 x 218; lower portion cut away). Modern pencil foliation, 1-58; new ff. 1-8 and 17-58, respectively, also have original ink foliation, 1-8 + 1-42. Original parchment covers. Music copied on new f. 51'. Staff height ca. 15-16 (irregular). No initials or decoration.

Ca. 1461 (StMP). Presumably copied at Sibton Cistercian Abbey, Suffolk. Sibton monastic estates conveyed to Duke of Norfolk and others in 1536; manor of Sibton sold to John Scrivener in 1610. Manor still owned by Scrivener family, but estate records, including present manuscript, deposited in Suffolk Record Office by Capt. E. Levett-Scrivener in 1948.
