RISM Description

RISM B/IV 2: A single parchment bifolio of the second half of the 14th century meas. 323 x 220 mm. The two folios do not form the middle of a gathering, while the second has two squares of parchment cut away at t.r.r. and b.r.r. The notation is of developed Ars Nova type on 12 red five-line staves per page. A date c. 1400 may be deduced from the mensuration signs C and O, the red notes and the semiminims. Fol. 2v has red initials, but the others are plain. Accidentals are fairly frequent, and a semicircular pause sign is to be found above certain longs. The manuscript is now kept in a modern beige cloth binding with a parchment spine and one blank flyleaf at each end. There is no foliation, so that the size of the original codex cannot be determined. Still, it is evident that the section devoted to motets was followed by one reserved mainly for mass movements, judging by the contents of f. 1 and 2 respectively.
