General Description

Three manuscripts containing a treatise on making sermons (f. 1), a scholastic discussion of the word of God and its 'grammar' by Alanus de Lille (f. 19) and a libellus de trinitate (f, 82). Music occupies what were evidently the front and back flyleaves of the third MS (f. 81rv and 140rv). The conductus are in score on f. 81rv, while the motets on f. 140rv preserve only the Mot, which lacks the initial letter of the text.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 1: A parchment manuscript meas. 174 x 120 mm. and containing 140 folios. There is also one blank unnumbered paper flyleaf at each end of the codex belonging to the modern binding. This, like the other Tortosa bindings, is of light brown cloth with a leather spine. The foliation at t.r.r. is of modern pencil. Tort is in fact three manuscripts bound together, dating respectively from the 13th, 14th and 12th centuries. The contents of the three parts consist of a treatise on making sermons (f. 1), a scholastic discussion of the word of God and its "grammar" by Alanus de Lille (f. 19) and a libellus de trinitate (f, 82). Music occupies what were evidently the front and back flyleaves of the third ms (f. 81rv and 140rv). This is in Aquitanian point notation of the kind resembling 14th century semibreves. The staves are simply continuous lines made with a dry point, using c and f clefs. The conductus are in score on f. 81rv, while the motets on f. 140rv preserve only the Mot, which lacks the initial letter of the text.
