Covers of medium brown leather over boards, blind tooled with decorative borders and central diamond motif; brass clasps, studs, and bosses. Covers date from 18th century (LlorCS), but decoration imitates earlier style; see VatS 13 for other manuscripts with similar bindings.

Ms. formé de nombreux fascicules indépendants dont la copie couvre une période qui va de Jules II (mort en 1513) jusque vers 1535 lorsque le recueil a été constitué dans son état présent par le scribe papal Johannes Parvus. On y reconnaît à de nombreux ff. l'écriture des 2 scribes responsables du Codex Medici (I-F1666) copié en 1518 (Rifkin).

The anonymous Regina celi, at ff154v-156r, is canonic so should be marked as 6vv. This is the famous setting that Jeremy Noble thought might be by Josquin. (Voice number updated and attribution to Josquin added.)
